Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP) successfully conducted a 3-day Porter & Guide Awareness Training from 23–25 May 2026 in Gatlang, which concluded in the presence of Buchung Tamang, Chairman of Aamachhodingmo Rural Municipality.

The training brought together local porters, guides, homestay owners, and members of local mothers’ groups (Aama Samuha) to strengthen their skills, enhance safety awareness, and promote responsible and sustainable tourism practices.

Participants gained practical insights into visitor management, risk reduction, environmental conservation, hospitality standards, and community-based tourism development through interactive sessions and discussions.

The program highlighted the importance of quality service delivery, visitor safety, and sustainable livelihood opportunities in strengthening the local tourism sector.

KEEP extends its sincere gratitude to Aamachhodingmo Rural Municipality, Tom and Karen Hodgman Family Foundation, Porteurs d’Avenir, and Worldwide Education Partnerships for Nepal (WWEP) for their valuable support in making the training possible.
