The Chhaptol Drinking Water Program in Naukunda Rural Municipality–6, Rasuwa, was successfully implemented to improve access to safe, reliable, and sustainable drinking water for the local community. The project included the construction of 55 water taps, a water storage tank, an intake system, and an extensive pipeline network.
The initiative directly benefits 85 households, serving approximately 510 people in Chhaptol, a predominantly Tamang village where most residents rely on subsistence farming for their livelihoods.
With improved access to clean and reliable drinking water, community members now spend significantly less time and effort collecting water. The project has also contributed to improved hygiene and sanitation, better health, and enhanced overall living conditions.
This project was fully supported by A Drop of Life and implemented by the Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP), reflecting a shared commitment to improving access to essential water infrastructure in underserved communities.
Beyond meeting an essential daily need, the Chhaptol Drinking Water Program represents an important investment in the well-being and resilience of the community. By strengthening access to basic water infrastructure, the project is helping create healthier living conditions and supporting sustainable rural development in this remote mountain community ofRasuwa, Nepal.
